Guiness World Records 2010: Top 50 Game Franchises

The Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition is a must have for any gamer with a coffee table that needs something plonked on it. 

The 2010 edition allowed people to vote for their favourite franchise, and here are the results.

So it’s a pretty cool list for the most part, although I’m not sure if World of Warcraft should be constituted as its own franchise. Sure it has expansions, but no sequels, and since its part of the Warcraft canon, I would have thought it would fall within that franchise. 

Other than that, I found it pretty weird that all Tom Clancy games were considered part of the same franchise, despite the fact the Splinter Cell, H.A.W.X and End War all seem like completely unique franchises in their own right.

Apart from those gripes, those are what the people chose, and you can’t argue with democracy!
