Games coming in January 2014

6 January 2014

Happy new year! Do you have any money left after all the holiday parties, gift-giving, and digital download sales?

Well, not to worry – January isn’t looking too exciting for new game releases, but there may be one or two titles that pique a particular interest.

PC is getting the bulk of new releases in January, but there are some big name titles hitting consoles as well, such as Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, and the HD remake of PS Vita game Assassin’s Creed 3 Liberation for consoles and PC.

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition (PS4, Xbox One)

One of the best games of 2013 has been spruced up for a relaunch on the new consoles, and publisher Square Enix and Developer Crystal Dynamics have been talking up the game.

Crystal Dynamics has explained why Tomb Raider: Definitive Editions is worth $60 and is even better than the PC version, citing various graphical improvements. Console games can also look forward to playing the game at 1080p. For a full run down of the claimed improvements, go here: Next-gen Tomb Raider trumps PC version

Assassin’s Creed III Liberation HD (PC, Xbox 360, PS3)

Liberation turned out to be one of the better games released for PS Vita in 2012, and it has been spruced up for a launch on big-boy gaming platforms.

As Aveline, players step into the boots of the series’ first female Assassin as they venture from the crowded streets of New Orleans circa 1770, to voodoo-haunted swamps and ancient Mayan ruins.

The “remastered” version of the game includes new missions and a revamped game world design.
