Titanfall is a hot topic across all gaming corners of the internet. The game is now in open-beta and comparison videos, performance tests, and frame-rate tests are ubiquitous.
Here are some performance videos showing what the game looks like and how it runs on certain specs:
Xbox One Test – Digital Foundry Frame Rate Tests
Digital Foundry ran some frame-rate tests on the game. The game often drops to 40 FPS during graphically intense scenes. I noticed too that while on foot the environmental effects caused the frame rate to drop significantly.
Digital Foundry reports that the game does not look all that pretty. Compared to the console version, the PC version looks very much the same – the textures are washed out and bland.
The only noticeable difference between the two is the resolution. The Xbox One version has noticeable jagged edges due to its capped resolution at 792p. Developer Respawn has said they want to try push it to 900p on the Xbox One.
PC Test
Here the game is running on the NVidia GTX 660. All the settings are on high with 2x MSAA and V-Sync off.
We can see that the game is running pretty smoothly on the GTX 660, an entry-level high-end card.
PC build
- Intel i7 4770
- GTX 660 1.5 GB
- 32 GB DDR3 RAM
Laptop test
This video shows off the game running on a laptop, and at resolution 1920×1080 the game runs smoothly at 60FPS, but we can see similar drops in quality when the battlefield gets busy with lots of explosions and smoke.
The effects on the FPS are similar to those seen on the Xbox One version. Both the PC version and Xbox One version tend to suffer from the same issues.
Laptop configuration
- XMG P503
- Intel i7- 4700MQ Quad Core 2.40 – 3.40 Ghz 6 MB 47W
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780m 4096MB GDDR5
- 8 GB Crucial Ballistix SO-DIMM 1600MHz
- Windows 8
- 120 GB SATA-III SSD Crucial M500
