Let’s face it, we’re all missing our greatest moments on the PS3 and Xbox 360. We love our next gen consoles, but long for those amazing stories that we remember from the last gen. Navigating space with a bunch of kick-ass people, exploring ruins, shooting hordes of thugs, theses were the trilogies dreams were made of.
These are my most wanted remastered trilogies for the next gen consoles.
Uncharted – Average Score 89/100
Naughty Dog really outdid themselves with the Uncharted series. I remember playing the first edition when I was new to the scene and can still recall all its epic moments. The opening on the boat when you get swarmed by pirates were some of the best visuals I have seen to this day, something which had not been achieved by many games at the time. Now imagine playing through all three games in full 1080p, re-experiencing the search for those hidden relics, the breath-taking landscapes, and the most epic action set pieces of the last generation. Someone at Sony please hear my plea!
Mass Effect – Average Score 90/100
I am not the biggest fan of this franchise, but not putting it on this list would be unprofessional. Mass Effect was a testament to great gaming gaming; it had direction, a good narrative, and a cast that we will never forget. The DLC spiced things up too, with new story segments, weapons, skins, and in the case of Mass Effect 3 an alternative ending. If the game and DLC was released as a complete package it would be excellent value for money. With over 200 hours of content, I wouldn’t mind giving it a second chance.
Assassin’s Creed – Average Score 89/100
If Ubisoft could bundle the first three main games into one, add in an awesome cinematic rundown of the spin-offs, and provide us with some 1080p greatness I would be sold. Assassin’s Creed offered the best stealth assassination gameplay on the last generation and the game evolved into a gaming triumph that won’t die any time soon. Ubisoft, delay Watch Dogs a bit more and give us this. Just joking… but I do want Assassin’s Creed in full HD.
Gears of War – Average Score 88/100
When the Xbox 360 was released in 2006, Gear of War was the game that stood out for me. I couldn’t afford a console back then, but when I finally got an Xbox 360 it was the first game I played. Gore, guts, guns, chainsaw guns; all these made the game unforgettable. One trilogy and a prequel later, which I am not counting, and the series remains one of the best in its genre. Other games wish they could be as awesome as Gears of War, and I wouldn’t mind experiencing that awesomeness again.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Average Score 85/100
The better half of the Call of Duty games, the Modern Warfare titles, need some remastering. The first Modern Warfare was the best of the series for me, and it still looks and plays better than the rest of the franchise. I really would love to play through all of them over again, and take them all online for a few death matches. These games were made with class and when developers respected gamers… if only they could take the franchise back to its roots.
Dead Space – Average Score 82/100
Born in the last generation, Dead Space took survival horror to a whole new level. Stomping enemies into paste, exploring deserted space stations, and dealing with some intense self-surgery was unforgettable. The game had great atmosphere, good lighting, and downright freaky enemies. Even though Dead Space 3 wasn’t as memorable as the first two it was still good, and I would love to play all these games again as part of an HD collection.
If you had to pick one what would it be? Or do you long for other HD remakes? Let us knows in the comments and forum.
