Facebook games for gamers

Facebook games are normally rather rubbish – but the ability to slip in a few minutes of gaming during work is too great an attraction to discount them completely.

If you need a break from your Excel worksheets, or your pain-in-the-ass manager, give one of these titles a try next time you are on the social network.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance

For those who: Love comic books and The Avengers; enjoy turn-based RPG combat; and want to watch your favourite superhero kick butt.

Avoid if you: Think this is an action game (it is not) or want depth in a game.

Bubble Witch Saga

For those who: Loved Bust-a-Move; enjoy casual-paced gameplay and challenging levels; like witches; and enjoy cross play between your smartphone and PC.

Avoid if you: Cannot face defeat (it happens often).

Empires and Allies

For those who: Loved Nintendo’s Advance Wars Series; like epic battle and boss fights; and want dedicated hardware support.

Avoid if you: Don’t like Zynga games and all they want from you, or if you want a solo experience.

Farmville 2

For those who: Are aspiring farmers, are someone with little time to dedicate to a game – 10 minutes a day is all you need.

Avoid if you: Have an addictive personality; have high expectations from a Facebook game; or are worried what your friends will think of you.

PixelJunk Monsters Online

For those who: Love the Pixeljunk Monsters series; like working in teams; enjoy terrorising other players; and want a diverse gaming experience playing with different characters.

Avoid if you: Want to play alone – this is a strong multiplayer game.

Robot Unicorn Attack: Evolution

For those who: Love robot unicorns, cheesy music and rainbows.

Avoid if you:  Hate robot unicorns, cheesy music and rainbows.

ChronoBlade

For those who: Want to pretend they are an epic warrior; enjoy hitting people in the face repeatedly; and like customisable characters.

Avoid if you: Have no life and and no taste in epic browser based games.
