Warhammer 40,000 MMO says hi from E3

18 June 2010

One of the pleasant surprises present at the THQ stand at E3 this year was a trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online. While perusing their stand, dodging rogue Space Marines and booth babes, I couldn’t help my eyes from constantly darting back to the trailer that was playing over and over on a 46 inch LCD panel.

Tinny by a Space Marine! Oorah!

This life-size Space Marine suit is possibly the coolest thing I’ve ever seen

A THQ representative explained that the game is still a while out, and they are holding back with information for now. We do know that it is being developed by Vigil Games, who bought us the hit slash-fest Darksiders earlier this year. It will be released exclusively for PC, and a little birdie at the show may have let slip that it is currently on track for a September 2011 release. The same little birdie told me not to write that down, so don’t go clearing your calendar just yet.

I was told that Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online will most probably be THQ’s primary focus at next year’s E3.

I love the Warhammer universe, and I am no stranger to the life-sucking potential of a good MMO, so this is definitely one of the more exciting blips on my longish term radar.

Below is the trailer that THQ had on repeat throughout the show. It is comprised solely of gameplay footage.

Burn the heretic. Kill the mutant. Purge the unclean.
