Whether you are slaying countless enemies with a pistol/assault rifle combo, or chopping their heads off with your trusty sword, MMOs give you so much more satisfaction than your average NPC populated game.
If this game genre does it for you, then we have good news – there are some seriously good titles coming your way in 2014 and 2015.
The Crew
- Release Date – November 2014
- Platforms – PS4, Xbox One, PC
- Developers: Ivory Tower, Ubisoft Reflections
The Crew is Ubisoft’s go at a modern, open-world racer. The game is all about forging a strong crew, racing against other crews, and basically being the baddest group of drivers on the block.
The game does feature a single-player mode, but it is primarily focused on racing other players.
EverQuest Next
- Release Date – 2014
- Platforms – PC, PS4
- Developers – Sony Online Entertainment
One of the better MMOs in existence is getting a complete makeover. EverQuest Next is not a prequel or sequel, but rather a separate game set in an alternative dimension. The game is built using the Forelight Engine – the same engine that PlanetSide 2 and H1Z1 are based on.
Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms
- Release Date – 2015
- Platforms – TBA
- Developers – Bigpoint
The Game of Thrones MMO is the game based on the popular TV series, which I am sure you all know and watch. Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms is built on the Unity Engine, which will allow the game to be playable in a browser.
Destiny
- Release Date – September 2014
- Platforms – PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360
- Developers – Bungie
Destiny is set to redefine the MMO genre with its new spin on an always-online shooter. We know that Destiny will look great, and, in my opinion, there is not much in terms of competition for “MMO of the moment”. Set in an expansive universe, you must fight to ensure Earth, and the human race, survives.
Blade and Soul
- Release Date – 2014
- Platforms – PC
- Developers – Team Bloodlust
Placing a huge emphasis on battling gigantic and fearsome creatures, Blade and Soul features a combination of martial arts combat, a well imagined open-world environment, and plenty of devastating combos. The game will feature a rich story to play through while exploring a world full of enemies, treasures, and breathtaking environments.
