We all have a creative streak in us, although the size of that streak does vary.
Some gamers want to recreate great works of art in Minecraft, while others are content with nailing a sausage to a plank and calling it Fred (You leave Fred out of this! -Ed).
Either way, games are a great canvas for you to paint your hopes, dreams, and other inspiring stuff you read about on inspirational memes.
Here are some of the best games to get creative in.
The Sims
Some people play the Sims simply for its great architectural aspects. Building your house, choosing your wallpaper, arranging the furniture in the study, making out with the maid while your Sim girlfriend is in the other room, the game really keeps the creative juices flowing.
With the Sims build and buy mode, you can let yourself get lost in the virtual world and forget about the leaky sink in your own kitchen.
LittleBigPlanet
The LittleBigPlanet franchise is known for its unlimited creative build mode, plus its truly masterpiece design features, and is a perfect conduit for your inspirational ideas.
I am terrible at creating levels in the game, but playing the community levels truly shows the genius minds that are out there.
Feel like creating a rocket-powered skateboard that can seat 4 people? Do it!
Minecraft
In Minecraft the building opportunities are endless, and we have even seen great creations based on famous stories like Game of Thrones and Skyrim. Minecraft has taken “breaking and placing blocks” to a whole new level, and the building aspect of the game gives you the opportunity to do anything.
If you feel like building your perfect castle surrounded by a moat across from a forest, then do it in Minecraft.
Resogun
Resogun recently updated with a brand new ship building mode, where, as the mode’s name suggests, you can build your own custom ship and fly around in the game with it.
I am currently using Charmander, but you can find Mario, Kirby, and epic Star Wars ships. The latest Resogun update will allow you to become a pixel master.
Planet Minigolf
Ever had that feeling that if you had the opportunity to create a Minigolf course that you would be great at it?
Well, Planet Minigolf has an awesome build mode that allows you to create some really crazy levels. Inspired and want to create a golf course in space with rocket power-ups? Launch Planet Minigolf.
Trials Fusion
Trials Fusion lets you take your creative skills to the street.
Well, the track actually, but street sounded cooler.
The level creator in Trials Fusion lets you set up your track and create challenges, and the game allows you to share your freshly minted course online.

Some others that I remember allowing me to get creative:
– Don’t Starve
– From Dust (I know a lot of people hated it however controlling Sand, Water and Lava was a lot of fun for me personally)
– Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (are you brave enough to ride my Deathly Death-adder?)
– Rust (although the hackers seemed to get more creative than anyone else at one point)
– Sim City 2000 / Sim City 4
– Most RTS games (decide on how you want to build your base and how you want to defend it. Oh and then design some of your own maps with your own custom scripting included if you really want to get advanced!).
I also think Space Engineers deserves a mention…LOADS of potential there!
