These games need more DLC

27 January 2015

Those games where you perform the same task over and over again can become boring. Sure, the games are great, but over time they become repetitive.

With the power of DLC, though, developers can create next to anything to add to their game – changing it from a traditional shooter to a Jurassic Park experience or a zombie-hunting survival-horror.

These games need some serious DLC makeovers.

Far Cry 4 – Jurassic Park

Far Cry 4 takes place in the massive open world of Kyrat. Mountains and lakes, huge forests and temples – it’s ripe for some dinosaur placement.

Imagine starting Far Cry 4, looking into the sky, and seeing a giant Pterodactyl coming straight for you. You run away, dodging a Triceratops in the process, only to fall off a ledge and into a ravine.

You slowly make your way out into a clearing, your controller starts to vibrate, you hear consecutive thuds getting louder and more frequent, there’s a deep roar, and a Tyrannosaurus Rex bursts from the treeline. I want some of that.

Grand Theft Auto V – Zombie Mayhem

Rockstar Games has proven it has what it takes to turn an open-world Western into a zombie massacre. I am confident that if it had to do the same with GTA 5 it would be just as epic.

Los Santos is a huge, immersive world with so much opportunity. A zombie outbreak has taken place and the city and all its inhabitants have fallen to ruin. It is now up to you to find the cure as you travel through the city ruins, smash zombie’s heads in, run into gunfights with rebel groups, and save unsuspecting city folk from various unfortunate events.

Los Santos plus zombies equals the best DLC ever created.

Dark Souls 2 – Costumes

Dark Souls is far too serious for its own good, and it is about time that some colour was added to the world of the Souls series.

My pitch for DLC would be to add a costume DLC that will change the way bosses and enemies look. The Old Iron King with a tutu, or the Smelter Demon with a clown hat? Do you see what I am getting at now? I have finished Dark Souls 2 around 6 times already and all I want is to experience it again, but with a twist.

Alien: Isolation – Play as the Alien

What would it be like to turn the tables on the stranded space station residents?

Hunting down your prey using all the senses that have been used against you the entire campaign, screeching out while you smell their fear, eating limbs off puny, helpless humans – sounds like fun.

If we had to add a multiplayer component to this, it would be a game changer. One player plays as the Alien and the other as the human. As the Alien it is your objective to hunt down and kill the human. As the human it is your job to run and survive as long as you can.

Spread some creativity and tell us what DLC you would like to see in your favourite games, in the comments and forum.
