Borderlands: The Handsome Collection releases for the PS4 and Xbox One in South Africa on 27 March 2015.
The game is the “essential Borderlands compilation and includes the definitive versions of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, built specifically for next-gen consoles”.
If you want to relive the magic of Borderlands, or are new to the series, then this game must be your to-buy list, according to the developers.
But if the rhetoric of a game developer about the game it makes is not your number one source of trustworthy information, though, then take a look at the review scores and judge for yourself.
The game is sitting at 85 on Metacritic for the PS4, with no score yet available for the Xbox One version.
Gamespot – 8/10 (PS4)
Let’s be clear: You don’t have to be Handsome Jack’s number-one fan to appreciate Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.
But even if you’re not, you will still find an impressive archive, chock full of dozens upon dozens of hours of laughter and exciting combat.
IGN – 8.4/10
Minor quibbles aside, The Handsome Collection is a great package for any console-bound Borderlands fan.
The fact that it collects every piece of DLC for both games, the majority of which is of very high quality, plus the fact that you can carry your last-gen saves and characters over, makes it a good pickup for returning fans and a great pickup for new ones.
GamesRadar – 4/5 (Xbox One)
There’s no denying that Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is a fantastic deal, combining two full, fun-as-hell games and every single piece of DLC in one package.
If you haven’t played the crap out of this FPS/RPG hybrid (or heck, even if you have), Borderlands is still one of the best, most entertaining shooters in the business. Shame about that framerate, though.
GameReactor – 9/10
It’s a shame the games weren’t pulled together, so you could skip between the two when you liked.
But a complete interchangeability of the characters would have meant a lot of extra work, and we can understand why this just wasn’t an option. Less so is the lack of the original Borderlands, which would have made this package an absolute dream for fans.
Attack of the Fanboy – 4.5/5
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection combines one of the best games of the last generation and a worthy sidestep title in the same package.
Boasting local four player split screen for the first time in the franchise history, the collection also provides players with every piece of DLC thus far with the smoothest console performance ever in the series.
Costing the same or less than the Pre-Sequel and its Season Pass alone, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is the ultimate option for series veterans and newcomers alike.
