This week, we’ve got a host of games coming our way. One includes a little tyrannical strategising from a returning veteran, and another involves some jazzed-up zombie-surviving for the new generation.
State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition
28 April (Xbox One)
Zombie fans will get their fix this week with State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition. It’s a revamped version of the surprise Xbox 360 hit, but as you’d expect, the visuals have been improved.
Year-One Survival Edition uses the same engine as the 360 version, Crytek’s CryEngine 3, but with improved animations, an array of bug fixes, texture bumps, a better draw distance and a 1080p resolution. In addition to the bumped-up visuals and animations, Undead Labs also added a new mission type as well as a new user interface for this version of the simulation-driven, open-world zombie survival game.
Tropico 5
28 April (PS4)
There’s a lot to like about Tropico 5, which released last year on the PC. For one, you get to be a pretty awesome, albeit tyrannical, dictator/president. Secondly, you get to rule your colony starting from the colonial era all the way through to the present.
It has 4-player multiplayer for the first time in the franchise’s history, allowing you to smash your foes in an online battle.
Magicka: Wizard Wars
28 April (PC)
Magicka: Wizard Wars is a free-to-play PvP action game based around the iconic Magicka spell-casting system from Paradox Interactive.
There’s a ton of game modes to choose from, including the “Soul Harvest” game mode, which challenges wizards to handle maps, longer rounds and several new accidental team-based immolations. Best of all, it’s completely free.
So if you’re into the launching of flaming boulders, electrified death beams and hapless imps, you should definitely check this one out. It’s a blast, literally.
