Mod customisation is normally and often associated with the PC crowd, but that need not be an absolute. We’re here to tell that consoles are also highly moddable.

If anything, we have a soft spot for the PS4 and this generation of consoles overall PC-like approach.

When you love a game just so darn much

Battlefield 4 is one of our favourite games of the last few years, even if’s not always working right, so this simple case mod really does look the part.

And it’s hard to go wrong with a game-specific decal. It’s especially stylish when both your PS4 controller and console match. It’s not as easy to achieve that effect as it might initially seem.

Actually, while we’re at it, why does Sony insist on themed consoles that merely alter a single section of the faceplate. This is the sort of thing we have in mind for a special edition console.

As cool as the BF4 skin is, this Resident Evil skin is gorgeous.

It really captures the essence of the game with a cool zombie hand effect, Umbrella Corporation logo and a vial of the T-Virus incorporated into the case.

The final product is one of the better game themed case mods we’ve seen.

Console Mimicry

Some of the most interesting PS4 case mods are ones that mimic other popular consoles of the past.

What is intriguing about this particular case mod is the combination of decals and physical modification.

This Atari 2600 PS4 case mod, complete with surface ridges and a colour scheme, is reminiscent of the actual Atari 2600, only the games are a lot better. The additions to the PS4 controller complete the mod.

Lumberjack your PS4

When all is said and done, this wooden PS4 looks a treat.

When a console gives you a reason to say chic or contemporary, then you know it’s worth investing in.

Just make sure it doesn’t clash with the colour scheme of anything else wooden in your lounge. As we understand it, lacking any sense of style ourselves, that’s a interior decorating no-no.

Give Your PS4 The Tony Stark Treatment

Our favourite PS4 case mod doesn’t just change the appearance of the console, but its functionality as well.

If Tony Stark were to ever mod a PS4, he would definitely do something like this. That said, he’d probably throw in a few extra bells and whistles, like say rocket boosters or an arsenal of weapons.Or perhaps one of those one-time-only laser thingies he uses in the movies.

Making a PS4 portable is a stroke of genius, even if it has been done to older consoles before. It’s something we would love to see for any future consoles that come out.

What we actually want to see, however, is a PS4 modded into an Xbox One. Think about it. Think about the potential for lampoonery.

That’s the kind of thing we think about on a daily basis, mostly trivial nonsense we mean.
