Most gamers would have had this particular week earmarked for months, as The Witcher 3, one of the most anticipated games of the year, hits store shelves, but there are some other titles worth checking out too.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – 19 May (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
Easily the biggest release of the month, and quite possibly the year, The Witcher 3 is already getting the praise we expected it to, with some critics calling it “one of the best games ever made”.
The epic fantasy action RPG is set to bring the monumental journey of the legendary monster hunter Geralt of Riviato a climactic close.
The game contains over 200 hours worth of content, as the no-nonsense hero becomes embroiled in the goings on of the mysterious and otherworldly Wild Hunt.
The world of The Witcher 3 will be full of distractions, giving players the chance to race horses, play cards, get into fights, hunt treasure and even join in ancient rituals, and of course, hunt down some grotesque monsters and frightening creatures.
Carmageddon: Reincarnation – 21 May (PC)
After an initial delay, 90s gamers will be ecstatic to know that Max is back – as Carmageddon lifts itself from the gaming grave for a new generation of vehicular carnage this week.
Funded by an uber-successful Kickstarter campaign, Reincarnation reunites the original developers to bring another driving carpocalypse where pedestrians (and cows) equal points and your opponents are a bunch of crazies in a twisted mix of automotive killing machines.
It’s the antidote to racing games, so start up your engines, sharpen your blades, and get ready for the Carmageddon.
