Release of the week: Final Fantasy XIV – price roundup

5 October 2010

October has got some huge titles lined up, and the first week kicks proceedings off with two super exciting RPG’s; Final Fantasy XIV (PC) and Two Worlds II which are both set to hit retail this Friday.

Final Fantasy XIV is particularly exciting, not only because it is the newest iteration of one of the longest standing RPG franchises in gaming ,but also because it is an intriguing looking MMO that will interface between PC and PS3 gamers on the same network.

We can expect the trademark Final Fantasy mixture of fantasy and science fiction, and based on the videos and screen shots that have been doing the rounds, FF XIV is looking mighty impressive.  Expect character customization, leveling, looting, and all the other bells and whistles that go with MMORPG’s.

The PC version is due out this week, but PS3 owners will have to wait until March next year for their turn. We can assume that Square Enix is planning on ironing out the bugs with PC MMO gamers, who are used to MMO’s being released often incomplete.

As always, Zaps offers great pricing, and the fact that they will deliver it to you for free makes them the best of the bunch this time around. Neither Incredible Connection nor Look&Listen have the game listed on their websites, but we can anticipate pricing at around the R400 mark from them. It is also worth mentioning that while Zaps and Kalahari both promise availability this week Friday, Take2 will only have the game on October 15.
