Games you can play this week – paper heroes and plumbers

Last week was a massive week in gaming, with the launch of two big games this month: Mad Max and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

And while the games arriving this week likely won’t garner as much attention as the aforementioned titles, there are some genuinely unique games that warrant your attention.

Tearaway Unfolded – September 9

Tearaway originally released on the PS Vita, but now console gamers are getting the chance to play the award-winning game, re-imagined for PlayStation 4.

The paper-craft inspired tale has been rebuilt from the ground up to take advantage of the enhanced power of the PlayStation 4 and the unique features of the DualShock 4 controller, with new fourth-wall-busting interactions and a bigger, more beautiful world to explore.

It promises to be quite the journey.

Super Mario Maker – September 11

(Wii U)

Nintendo is finally ready to let fans unleash their inner Miyamoto this week with the release of Super Mario Maker for the Wii U.

The stage creator will let players design and upload a never ending stream of Mario levels, along with offering dozens of already playable courses on disc.

Players will even have the ability to bring characters like Link and Samus Aran (the protagonist of Metroid) into a Mario game for the first time through an Amiibo tap or by unlocking the character through the Challenge Mode.

Super Mario Maker may be the last video game we ever need.
