Games you can play this week – creepers and creatures

The first week of October has already gotten off to a bang with some big game releases, but things are just getting warmed up, as some more heavy-hitters come our way this week including some franchise spin-offs, expansions and RPGs heading our way.

Here are our picks for the biggest games launching the week:

Minecraft: Story Mode – Episode 1: The Order of the Stone – October 13

(Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC, PS Vita, Android, iOS)

If you thought Minecraft was fun but lacked a little bit of narrative direction, you’ll be pretty excited for Minecraft: Story Mode.

The upcoming game is an all-new narrative-driven game series developed by Telltale (of The Walking Dead and Tales from the Borderlands fame) in collaboration with Mojang.

Set in the world of Minecraft, the episodic series will feature an original story, driven by player choice.

This looks pretty interesting, and with the voice talents of Patton Oswalt, Ashley Johnson and Catherine Taber on-board, this is building up to be a real blockbuster.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Hearts of Stone – October 13

(PS4, Xbox One, PC)

If you’ve managed to make your way through the mindbogglingly impressive The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt already, the first expansion for the game releases this week.

Adding over 10 hours of new gameplay, new characters, powerful monsters, unique romance and a brand new storyline shaped by your choices, Hearts of Stone is set to give Geralt of Rivia a whole new set of challenges as he tries to hunt down a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality.
