Games you can play this week - stabbing and shredding - Assassin's Creed Syndicate

Some big-name titles come crashing into our consoles and PCs this week, including the latest instalment in Ubisoft’s stab-’em-up franchise, and a new Guitar Hero game to get us finger-tapping from our couches once again.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – October 23

(Xbox One, PS4, PC)

The last couple of Assassin’s Creed titles have left us wanting a little more, but it looks as if the latest entry into the series, Syndicate, will deliver on its promises.

Set in 1868 London, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate marks the first time players can switch between two main protagonists freely throughout the game, and the first main game with a playable female character.

The two Fryes have specialized uses like Jacob being better in close combat and Evie excelling in stealth maneuvers.

Syndicate also includes a new means of transportation via the rope launcher that allows Evie and Jacob to rappel up buildings and use a zip-line between them, and carriages and trains can be used to get around London.

London will be a good deal larger than Unity’s Paris and won’t feature multiplayer or a companion app.

Guitar Hero Live – October 23

(PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U)

Music games have seen an absence in recent months, but the original shredder is back and better than ever.

Guitar Hero Live returns to the roots of Guitar Hero by focusing only on the guitar. The new controller also features a six-button grid system instead of the typical five-button layout featured on similar games.

Expect to rock out to tracks from Pearl Jam, 36 Crazyfists, In Flames, Blink 182, Kasabian, Panic at the Disco, Rush, Paramore, Green Day, Korn and Red Hot Chili Peppers, amongst many others.

No multiplayer in Assassins creed, now I’m interested. Will however wait for the PC reviews to see how many bugs there are…
