Game collections we wish existed

Game collections we wish existed - Mass Effect

We’re pretty sure we’ve played or own virtually every single HD collection release over the past two years, and there have been some truly spectacular re-releases.

In fact, we really could care less what people think about re-releasing old games via an HD collection, definitive edition or whatever else publishers cook up.

It’s great to play old games on current hardware, especially when these games were such massive hits back in the day, and there is really no way to play them other than on their respective consoles.

With that in mind, these are the re-mastered collections that need to happen, ASAP!

Mass Effect Ultimate Collection – PS4, Xbox One, PC

We’re not the only ones to suspect a re-released collection of the original Mass Effect trilogy prior to the release of Mass Effect Andromeda?

Should it happen, we’re pretty sure the world will embrace this collection with open arms, particularly if it’s a remastered collection. We’re talking improved visuals, a better frame rate and more.

The best thing about this collection is that it would include all of the DLC released subsequent to each title, so that no one will ever miss out on the proper ending for Mass Effect 3, or any other DLC character.

As far as Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer is concerned, we’d love to have another crack at it, but we won’t be all that disappointed if it’s missing. It’s had its time in the spotlight.

Super Mario Galaxy: Galactic Edition – Nintendo NX

As much as we hate to admit it, Super Mario Galaxy was probably the best game that any of us have ever played, and it’s due time that Nintendo released the two titles in one package, got rid of the motion controls and made it as HD as possible.

With the Nintendo NX in development and the promise of more performance this time round, what better time to make this collection than now, so it can release alongside the new console/handheld hybrid at launch.

Onimusha: HD Collection – PS4, Xbox One, PC

The Onimusha franchise was praised for its over-the-top boss battles, crazy characters and smooth samurai combat.

Four games later and we’ve not seen an Onimusha title in 9 years.

Don’t you think that it’s time to bring it back to the world in a stellar HD collection with all 4 games on one disc?

Throw in some new content, improved visuals, redone character animations, UI improvements and a smoother frame rate, and you’ve got a solid collection on your hands.

Onimusha also hosts some of the best CG cinematics you’re likely to see, keeping us thoroughly engrossed between fights, so imagine how fantastic an HD update could be.

This collection will allow all those people out there who ignored the titles, to finally get into them and try them out.

Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy – PS4, Xbox One, PC

What more could you want in life other than a collection of Grand Theft Auto titles on one disc?

But how to choose which games to include, that is the problem.

We reckon that Rockstar should just release Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, or maybe GTA III and GTA IV.

Either way, we will have three epic Grand Theft Auto titles within our grasp, with trophies/achievements, and all of it in HD, even if HD means that Marcus’ face still is a low-res as ever.

The Legacy of Kain: Nosgoth Edition – PS4, Xbox One, PC

The Legacy of Kain series told the dark, gritty story of a vampire named Kain who was resurrected and subsequently seeks one thing, vengeance against those who murdered him, oh and to cure his vampirism.

Raziel was then born in Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver as a devourer of souls, forcing him against the rest of the vampiric world in a crusade worth remembering.

The series then went on to branching off into both Kain’s and Raziel’s story until Legacy of Kain: Defiance was released which saw the player play as both Kain and Raziel at intervals during the game.

An HD collection would mean that all 4 titles would have to be released in one game. This would give us the opportunity to experience the entire series and its dark lore in one sweep.

If you could have any collection imaginable, what would it be, and for what platform(s)? Let us know in the comments and forum.
