To Hell with Jonny – play game
From the mad Swedish retro gaming minds at indie developer Michi.nu comes To Hell with Jonny. The game is a vertically scrolling platform game but instead of the boring old ‘make it all the way to the top’ mechanic, gamers will be going down… all the way down! Of course there’s a reason for Jonny to go to hell – his girlfriend has been kidnapped by demons. The trailer below will probably best portray the action.
To Hell with Jonny features seven stages, four difficulty settings, bonus stages, challenges, awards and secrets. The game even sports accessibilty features to cater to those with reduced mobility and poor vision. It is a shareware game and you get the full version when downloading it. The developers have promised that the game isn’t demo-crippled in any way and that there will be no nuisance tactics. Buying the game (±R110) is up to your good will and will grant access to online high-scores, new characters and bonus levels.
Brainsplode – play game
Alien brains have landed on earth and they are busy sucking out its life. No worries though, we’ll just BrainSplode them darned things. BrainSplode is a puzzle-artillery game featuring some projectile physics which keep things interesting. Players shoot a rocket from a cannon and manipulate its trajectory using parachutes, rockets boosters, angles of attack and the bouncy yellow environment. The latest release features seven puzzling levels and should the developer receive enough positive feedback he may consider creating a full length version.
Sp.A.I. – play game
In the future, the online realm is the battleground upon which the fate of reality is decided. Aiva is a hacking program that must infiltrate an enemy mainframe, bypass the security defenses and shut down the system. The game is an action-platform-puzzler created by five, third-year students at Australia’s Queensland University of Technology. Sp.A.I. is still a little rough around the edges as the students are still implementing features (there is currently no save feature for example) but regardless, it’s an impressive little game. The download is 215mb large but you get some snazzy graphics and great puzzling/platform action.
Momiga – play game
Momiga – the Most Minimalist Game. Developer Rogerup was challenged to create a game with one dot, one beep and one button. Sounds simple, yet often the simplest things are the most addictive. The objective is to move the single dot from the left side of the screen to the right using only a mouse click or spacebar press. The dot will react differently after each successful round, so part of the game involves figuring out the mechanics. This a great 10 minute coffee break game.
