Worst games of 2015 according to the reviews

Worst scored games of 2015 - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5

Before we set our sights on the 2016, we need to take a look back at 2015 and be honest with ourselves about the games we’ve played.

What did we waste our money on in 2015? What was the worst game of the year? Well, according to the reviews, there are a whole list of games we should learn from, and then never repeat.

In a similar vein to the best scored games of 2015, here are the worst games of 2015, according to the scores.

*To appear on the following lists, these games had to have been released in 2015 and appear on GameRankings with more than 20 reviews. Too few reviews means a weaker average score, allowing some games to skirt on by with what is essentially inaccurate average scores.

PS4

The PlayStation 4 had some excellent games in 2015, but of the worst games, there is no surprise that the bottom of the list included Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, Godzilla and a few other games that, well, we’ve never even heard of.

  1. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 – 32.96%
  2. Godzilla – 39.16%

23: Mad Max – 69.40%

Xbox One

There is no doubt that the Xbox One had the best line-up of game in 2015. Rise of the Tomb Raider, Ori and the Blind Forest, Halo 5: Guardians and more.

That does not excuse it from this list though, as we can see that the bottom of the list includes a few games that didn’t review so hot.

Keep in mind that the Xbox One list has higher lower-end scores than the PS4.

  1. Funk of Titans – 41.24%
  2. Need for Speed – 66.36%
  3. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China – 66.69%
  4. Evolve – 71.68%

PC

When it comes to PC games, there is a bit more variety thanks to its open publishing approach, which almost guarantees games you’ve never heard of.

2015, however, was a fairly good year and we’ve played very nearly everything on this list. We also happened to enjoy some of the following titles more than other critics did.

  1. Hatred – 44.81%
  2. Sid Meier’s Starships – 62.34%
  3. Kholat – 64.29%
  4. Citizens of Earth – 64.45%

  9. Game of Thrones: Episode Five – 71.40%
  10. Hard West – 72.36%

Other games on the list

12: Evolve – 74.10%
15: Just Cause 3 – 74.62%

Nintendo 3DS

As the Nintendo 3DS was the only handheld in 2015 to actually get a substantial amount of games, it is only fair that we in include it in our list.

Sitting at the bottom of the list is a few games that we thought were actually going to be good, like The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force heroes, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Code Name S.T.E.A.M.

These were all first party titles, and Nintendo normally shine the brightest when it comes to them.

  1. Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains – 49.95%
  2. Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden – 59.05%
  3. Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson – 60.05%

  7. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes – 72.19%
  8. The Legend of Legacy – 72.59%
  9. Puzzle Dragons Z + Puzzle Dragons: Super Mario Bros – 73.29%
  10. Story of Seasons – 76.58%

Other games on the list

12: Yo-Kai Watch – 78.41%

Nintendo Wii U

When it comes to the Wii U, there were 12 games released that had more than 20 official reviews that we could include in this list.

There is no doubt that the console had the worst line-up of 2015, and that is only because of its lack of third-party titles.

  1. Devil’s Third – 43.56%
  2. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash – 55.90%
  3. Mario Party 10 – 64.49%
  4. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water – 67.68%
  5. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse – 74.97%
  6. Yoshi’s Wooly World – 78.50%
  7. Affordable Space Adventures – 80.52%
  8. Splatoon – 81.94%

  10. Fast Racing NEO – 82.52

Other games on the list

11: Xenoblade Chronicles X – 83.89%
12: Super Mario Maker – 89.41%

So there you have the worst games of 2015, at least according to general critic consensus. Did you play any of these and regret it? Let us know in the comments and forum.

Weirdly, there’s an awful lot of highly scored games in a list of the “worst”, which just goes to show how strong of a year 2015 was.
