Have to agree. Writer did not play the game. From day one if the closed beta there were npcs in the dark zone as well as “hard mode” for the medical wing opener mission. If you had bothered to play you would have also found out that missions are a totally different experience when playing on hard difficulty alone and playing hard difficulty with 3 others by your side.
Since you didn’t even mention the matching making feature (awesome by the way) i can only assume that you played solo. Let me assure you that the missions not only scale in terms of difficulty setting but also interms of the size of your group. Playing the medical mission with 4 people was alot more difficult and awesomely challenging than with just 2 peeps.
As for the DZ. Traditionally i hate pvp and stay away from it like the plague. All games implement the same pvp model. From World of Warcraft to Destiny it is basically run around and if you have the reflexes and the lowest ping you win. Ofcourse skill plays a big role.
Enter the DZ and throw all your preconceptions about pvp out of the window. Yes it is irritating that you are one of several people trying to extract gear and then a pimply face 7 year old chucks a grenade into the middle of it all. But oh the satisfaction of hunting his ass down and getting him in a cross fire with other pissed off agents you have just met. Pure genius. First time ever that i have spent more time in pvp than pve.
Another fact that the writer didnt even mention is that there is manufactoring built into the game with some of the best gear and weps coming from crafting your own.
And finally, if the writer had played the beta, right before you log in there is a disclaimer about since you are playing a beta alot of the story, missions etc has been removed or disabled so that the game is still wow when it releases.
