December 2010’s game release calendar is a shadow of November’s glory. This is thanks to the fact that there is literally only one game being released that is worthy of discussion.
It’s been a huge year for gaming, with the likes of GT5, CODBLOPS, God of War III, Halo: Reach, Fable III, Mass Effect II and StarCraft II making up just some of the highlights. However, it looks as if November used up the last of the proverbial tank in terms of gaming, because apart from WoW: Cataclysm which is out on December 7, there really is nothing noteworthy being released this holiday season.
This is not necessarily a bad thing, as the average gamer’s wallet probably couldn’t take much more abuse after the recent plethora of titles that left us inundated. Remember, the holidays are a time to get away from routine, spend some time with friends and loved ones, and of course make some inroads into your constantly growing backlog of must play titles.
The reprieve won’t last long, however, and January promises to reopen the flood gates, with Dead Space 2 making its mark as the first big release of 2011. PlayStation 3 owners will also get their first taste of the critically acclaimed Mass Effect series, when the second game makes its long awaited debut on the console.
Then of course there is Bulletstorm in February, followed by Dragon Age: II, Shogun 2: Total War, FEAR 3 and Crysis 2 in March. Other highlights of the year to come include Brink, Stronghold 3, Deux Ex: Human Revolution, Star Wars: The old Republic, Homefront, Killzone 3, Little Big Planet 2, Batman: Arkham City, The Witcher 2, Gears of War 3, Diablo III and loads more.
