Games you can play this week – death and destinies

11 April 2016

If you’re looking for some big boss battles, anthropomorphic heroes, and grappling hooks, this week’s game releases will deliver on all those things, and a little more.

Here are our picks for the games of the week:

Dark Souls III

Release date: 12 April (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

We’re suckers for punishment, it seems.

After Demon Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls II smashed us into submission with its frustratingly addictive gameplay difficulty, we still want more, and the new entry into the beloved franchise is set to up the ante, throw bigger and badder bosses at you, and make you beg for mercy once more.

New combat features are also introduced, including ‘Weapon Arts’, which are special abilities that vary from weapon to weapon that enable extra damage and unique movesets for a limited time, at the cost of magic points.

Stories: The Path of Destinies

Release date: 12 April 2016 (PS4, PC)

Stories: The Path of Destinies is an action-RPG set in a vibrant fairytale universe filled with floating islands, majestic airships, and colourful magic. Unintentional hero Reynardo suddenly becomes the last line of the defence against a mad Emperor.

Thankfully, Reynardo is no slouch when it comes to combat. Players can harness and customise Reynardo’s kung fu moves and fast swordplay, along with some magic skills to boot.

Depending on the choices you make, the story will play out differently resulting in any number of consequences, but each with a path to victory for those paying close attention.
