Cape Town Comic Con kicks off next weekend

FanCon, Cape Town’s Comic Con, is set to run from 7-8 May 2016.

The event is an independently-hosted comic convention which will feature a variety of comic-related content such as movies, games, TV shows, and tabletop gaming.

FanCon will take place over the entire weekend and will showcase all aspects of geek and pop culture, from cosplay to gaming tournaments. The schedule includes international guest signings and various talks and expos.

While the convention may not feature the same roster of celebrities as that enjoyed by international events, some notable guests will be flying down for FanCon, including:

Jason Aaron – High-profile Marvel comic writer.
Jamie Mckelvie – British comic book artist for Marvel and Image Comics.
Ian Churchill – Experienced British comic book artist.

The event will be hosted at The Lookout at the V&A Waterfront and is sponsored by Readers Den Comic Shop, who have previously hosted the regular Free Comic Book Day Cape Town.

Single-day tickets to the event will cost R100 each, while a ticket for the whole weekend will cost R160.
