Omni VR treadmill pre-order price revealed

13 August 2013

Virtuix Omni has opened up pre-orders for its omni-directional virtual reality treadmill, the Omni, for $499 (R4,950*), which includes the Omni platform, shoes, belt, and tracking hardware and software.

The Omni is an ambitious fully-integrated VR interface which puts players on a movement pad that translates actual physical movements into the game world.

The project was launched through a Kickstarter campaign, which within one day accumulated over $400,000, smashing its $150,000 goal.

The Omni is also compatible with the Oculus Rift and Razer Hydra (and other) game controllers. That means that any game currently in development for the Oculus Rift will be ready to play with the Omni.

Given the successful funding, the Omni is scheduled to start shipping in March 2014, with shipping costs to be announced.
