When we covered the penis gaming peripheral, my second thought was, “what about female gamers?”.
Well, now there is the Smart Kegel Exercise Aid – known as SKEA for short – which promises female gamers better sex, no incontinence, and stronger pelvic muscles all round.
“Imagine playing Temple Run with Fitbit. Not with fingers, but with pelvic floor muscles!” the project’s Kickstarter post proclaims.
At the time of writing the SKEA has received just over $5,700 towards its $38,000 goal.
“Bye-bye, urinary incontinence. Oh, and welcome back, SEX!”
Before you ask, I will try and answer your two questions:
- What the hell is going on?
- How does it work?
Firstly, according to the Kickstarter post, women lose control of their bladder – mostly after giving birth – and this equals a ruined sex life. Not having a vagina or a baby-mommy myself, I will let the gadget’s inventor explain it in more depth.
Now that you have a somewhat better understanding courtesy of our enthusiastic narrator, we can move onto the next pressing matter: how does it work?
“Skea can be comfortably positioned inside body like a tampon. Its embedded pressure sensor detects pelvic muscle contractions and synchs wirelessly to smartphones. Squeeze on Skea, your game Avatar jumps; squeeze again, jump again!”
Kegel exercises, on which the device is based, have been found to not only strengthen pelvic muscles, but improve urinary incontinence and is often recommended in sex therapy.
Um, yeah, so, there you have it. SKEA comes with a bespoke game Alice in Continent – pun intended – which requires you to jump around a lot.
If you still don’t think this is your cup of tea, scroll down the original Kickstarter post and see if Tatiana can convince you. The SKEA is due to start shipping in December 2014.
