New Tesla cars have the coolest gaming Easter egg

An Easter egg inside the new Tesla motor vehicles has a gaming twist.

Instead of the typical grey instrument panel, Tesla owners now have the option to make their GPS Mario-themed.

The road is replaced with the multi-coloured “Rainbow road” from the original Mario Kart SNES release, while a cowbell soundtrack plays in the background.

Tesla founder Elon Musk broke the news himself in a tweet describing how to activate the special mode:

Tesla vehicles will need to have the latest firmware installed to take advantage of the new features.

This isn’t the first time Tesla has hidden Easter eggs in its vehicles, as last year we saw a James Bond themed surprise in the Tesla model S.

Tesla recently announced that it would be bringing the brand to South Africa for the first time later this year.
