AMD has revealed its seventh generation A-series processors.
These processors will be the first to feature the company’s AM4 socket.
That means these will be the first from AMD to support DDR4-compatible memory as well as achieve unified compatibility between high-end CPUs (currently using Socket AM3+) and AMD’s lower-end APU.
AMD currently has announced seven CPUs, the A12-9800, A12-9800E, A10-9700, A10-9700E, A8-9600, A6-9500, and A6-950E, with the A12’s being the most powerful chips equipped with four x86 Excavator CPU cores.
Both of the A12 CPUs will feature Radeon R7 graphics.
There is currently no pricing or release date for the new processors, although they are expected to appear in AMD partner PCs (namely HP and Lenovo) first.
