SSD prices expected to soar worldwide

NAND flash prices are expected to increase dramatically in the next couple of weeks, reports TechPowerUp.

One of the biggest reasons for the price increase is smartphones, specifically the surging prices in the DRAM market, spurred by the Note 7 fiasco and increased production of that smartphone’s competitors to fill the gaping hole left by its forcible market removal.

The other big cause for the price hike is increased demand, with prices increasing 6%-10% this quarter alone due to low supply.

So what does all this actually mean for you the consumer?

Quite simply, if you were planning to pick up an SSD, now would be the time to do so.
