Storage drive South African pricing guide – SSD and HDD

Improvements in HDD and SSD technology have allowed users to continuously increase their desktop storage and performance.

While hard drives offer good storage capacity at a relatively low price, users who want faster speeds tend to opt for solid state drives.

Solid state drives use non-volatile NAND flash memory as storage, offering reduced capacity but much faster speeds than conventional disk drives.

SSDs are more expensive than HDDs, though, so the substantial increase in performance comes at a price.

SSDs also come in multiple form factors due to the bandwidth limitations of standard SATA ports, which affect high-end SSD performance.
