The BDR-S11 J-BK and BDR-S11 J-X Blu-ray drives are set to release in Japan in late February.

The devices fit in 5.25-inch desktop drive bays and are able to write to four-layer Blu-ray discs and rewrite three-layer discs.

Pioneer listed the following minimum hardware requirements for UHD Blu-ray playback:

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • Processor: Intel 7th-Gen Core i5
  • Memory: 6GB+
  • Motherboard: Intel 200 Series chipset

Users will also need a UHD display with HDR support to play content at the highest level of quality.

There is currently no international pricing for Pioneer’s UHD Blu-ray drives.
