The debate of which is better, PC or console gaming, is not a sensible one.
The two platforms are just too different in what they offer to be reasonable compared to each other.
Unlike comparing different consoles, a PC’s capabilities aren’t standardised, and accurate comparisons can’t be made without a standard to measure against.
One point of comparison that is often mentioned is accessibility and ease of use; consoles are easier to use than PCs.
They are a standard, prebuilt gaming platform you can plug in and start playing, while PCs are built and require an understanding of what each game requires.
On the other hand, this allows for building PCs far more powerful than any console but at a higher cost.
The cost of gaming
Building a top-of-the-line PC is far more expensive than simply purchasing a current-generation console. So, from a purely economic point of view some may claim that consoles are the more sensible option.
Such a conclusion is logical but not the only factor to consider. Although a console is cheaper than building a PC, you must buy multiple consoles over time to continue playing new and old titles.
In contrast, a well-built PC will only require a few hardware upgrades to maintain its capabilities as time goes by.
To further highlight the cost differences we’ve sourced prices of current-generation consoles and an equivalent PC.

The games on offer
The roster of games offered by each is another difference. Most games are released on PC, and the few console exclusives usually end up with a PC port either on release or thereafter.
PC, however, has access to an ever-expanding number of games, not to mention the potential of emulators (software to play console games on PC) to fill in any gaps created by exclusives that aren’t ported.
The idea of comparing PC to consoles is no better than comparing cars and motorbikes. The two have some basic similarities but are too different for any accurate comparison without generalisation.
You’d be better served to focus on the console wars and forget about PC altogether; it’s simply not relevant to any comparisons that could be made.
