HP’s Omen 30L – The gaming desktop I’d buy right now

PC gamers have always looked down on prebuilt desktop PCs because manufacturers restricted their customisability.

However, prebuilt PC manufacturers like HP are getting the memo and now offer completely customisable prebuilt desktop PCs.

This is why, considering the current inflation of PC components, it is a no-brainer to go for the HP Omen 30L gaming desktop.

At R40,999 on Evetech, this PC clocks in at about the same price you would be paying for an Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti right now.

The Omen 30L will easily run most modern games at over 60 fps since it comes with an Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card, an overclockable Intel i7-10700K CPU, and 16 GB of DDR4 RAM.

Storage won’t be a problem either, as you get a 2 TB NVMe and a 2 TB HDD included in the build.

The Z490 chipset on the motherboard means that you’ll get the maximum speed out of your 3200 MHz RAM and M.2 SSD.

One of the features of the Omen 30L that I find most attractive is its small form factor. The case dimensions are 16.5 x 42.2 x 43.3 cm, meaning it will make a perfect addition to a minimalist, sleek setup.

The Omen 30L’s compact size offers a more minimal look.

There are still some drawbacks to prebuilt gaming desktops, though.

For instance, if you want to upgrade some of your components, you will have to buy them through HP at an increased price or risk problems with component incompatibility.

However, for those who want a great gaming experience at a relatively affordable price (considering the current inflation in GPU prices), the Omen 30L is an excellent choice.
