Razer has recently announced its new lineup of Blade 15 gaming laptops.
The top-of-the-line Razer Blade 15 model now has an OLED panel that renders 240 frames per second.
A high refresh rate display with fast response times and G-Sync support can give competitive gamers a tangible advantage in fast-paced FPS titles like Warzone and Counter-Strike.
Last year’s Blade 15 range also shipped with OLED panels, but these were 4K displays capped at 60 frames per second refresh rates, targeting mainly content creation and productivity.
However, Razer‘s 2022 Blade 15 laptops now allow gamers to experience the vivid colours and true blacks of an OLED screen without compromising screen refresh rate.
Although there are currently laptops on the market with OLED displays, only a few of them offer consumers screen refresh rates above 60 Hz.
Therefore, the primary reason you’d want this laptop is the 15.6-inch 1440p OLED display which can render 240 frames per second.
The laptop’s design also doesn’t follow your typical over-the-top gaming laptop aesthetic but instead opts for a minimal look that resembles a thin-and-light enterprise notebook.
The Razer Blade 15 comes with an Intel i7-12800H processor running at a base clock of 1.8 GHz that can boost up to 4.8 GHz.
The laptop ships with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card featuring 16GB GDDR6 VRAM.
With a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD and three PCIe 4.0 slots, storage will never be anything to fret over.
The Blade 15 can also support the latest DDR5 RAM, shipping with 32GB of 4800MHz dual-channel modules.
Since RGB lighting has become obligatory for anything branded as “gaming”, the Blade 15 comes with fully customisable Razer Chroma per-key backlighting.
Don’t expect any of these premium specs to come cheap, though — The Blade 15 retails at $3,699.99 (R58,592.78) on Razer’s website.
With GPU prices steadily dropping, though, I would rather invest in a high-end desktop PC for that kind of money.
As someone who has nothing close to competitive skill levels in the games I play, investing in a desktop PC that I can upgrade over time is a better choice.
