Asus launches Rampage IV Gene X79

19 January 2012

Following the release of the new Sandy Bridge-E platform, Asus have released the Republic of Gamers Rampage IV Gene X79 – a feature-rich X79-based board that ships in a micro ATX form factor.

The Rampage IV Gene ships with a range of high-end features, including:

  • SupremeFX III, complete with EMI shielding thanks to a new “red line” PCB layout that isolates the audio hardware from the rest of the motherboard to reduce interference;
  • Intel Ethernet LAN controllers, which are some of the best integrated Ethernet ports available on the market;
  • This is coupled with ROG GameFirst technology that prioritises game traffic over the network to reduce lag;
  • Extreme Engine Digi+ II voltage regulation, which provides increased stability during overclocking;
  • NexFET power block MOSFETs are also present to increased heat resistance and durability;
  • USB-IF certification.

The Rampage IV Gene is the first X79 motherboard to be certified as USB3.0-ready by the USB Implementers Forum.

The boards also support Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossfireX technology.
