Enthusiast hardware and overclocking website ocheaven has revealed their performance findings on ATi’s upcoming HD 4890 graphics card.
They have also revealed some of the more technical specifications of the card.
Unfortunately, ocheaven is unable to reveal any real world performance figures because of various confidentiality agreements.
Ocheaven ran the latest version of GPU-Z 0.3.2. The official specifications of the HD 4890 they tested are as follows:
GPU Codename: RV790
Fabrication process: 55nm
Transistor count: 965 million
GPU Clock Speed: 850MHz
Memory Interface: 256-bit
Onboard memory: 1GB GDDR5 @3800MHz
In 3DMark06, the HD 4890 comes very close to Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 285. The GTX 285 still holds clear advantage in 3DMark Vantage thanks to PhysX.
The test system consisted of an Intel Core i7 920 CPU running at 2.67GHz and 3GB of unspecified ram.
The card managed a 3DMark 06 score of 16096 and a 3Dmark Vantage score of P10996.
Of course these synthetic tests are not an indicator of the actual real world gamming performance that the card will deliver.
Unfortunately we will have to wait for in game benchmarks.
