New Top end Intel i7 in June

5 May 2009

According to Fudzilla, Intel is planning on launching its Core i7 975 in June. The online tech publication could not reveal its sources, but is known for gaining access to early inside information.

The Core i7 975 will be Intel’s fastest consumer orientated CPU, and will come clocked at 3.33GHz. Not much is known about the i7 975, but it will replace Intel’s current performance king, the i7 965 which comes clocked at 3.2GHz.

Intel will also be launching a new entry level i7 in the form of the i7 950 which is set to replace the i7 940 (because 5 is bigger than 4). The i7 950 will apparently run at 3.06GHz, and like the new i7 975 will most likely offer a very limited real world performance increase over the chip that it is replacing.
