4 in-your-face gaming gadgets

Some gaming gadgets looks pretty slick, so much so that you would be proud to have them on display for the whole world to see.

Others rely on shock factor to turn heads, with chrome, lights, music, and unusual features that you can’t help but take a second look at. Below are four of the latter:

Cybord V7 Keyboard

Earlier this year I reviewed the Cyborg V7 gaming keyboard, and to sum it up: “You could do worse, but that doesn’t mean the V7 is any good.” There isn’t much on the market that can compete with the V7 in terms of “bling” factor, so if that’s part of your requirements then look no further.

Each individual zone on the keyboard has it’s own back-lighting system, which can be customised with a range of colours independently of the other zones. Changing even one zone to a different colour makes the keyboard look like something you’d see hanging off of a Christmas tree rather than in front of a gaming PC.

Chrome WASD keys, chrome space bar, and chrome arrow keys are sure to draw attention – and generate rage as your fingers slip off their smooth surface. That said, little will turn heads more than this keyboard.

Cyborg V7 gaming keyboard

Razer Naga Molten

The special edition of an already in-your-face mouse, the Naga Molten features a cracked red and orange design radiating outwards from the central Razer logo on the back.

If that doesn’t turn heads, the 17 fully programmable buttons (including 12 buttons in a grid formation on the left side of the mouse) will.

The Naga was the first mouse to take on the MMORPG market and saw impressive adoption from WoW users all over the world. I had a chance to review the mouse when it came out a few years ago, and while it may be fully functional, you dexterous hands to use all of the buttons properly.

Specifications include a 5,000DPI 3.5G laser sensor, a 1,000Hz ultra-polling rate with 1ms response time, and “Zero-acoustic Ultraslick feet”, whatever that means.

Razer Naga molten

Logitech G600

Inspired by the Razer Naga, Logitech entered the MMORPG gaming mouse market earlier this year with the G600.

Apart from having 20 buttons (yes, 20 buttons controlled by just three fingers), the mouse also sports a G-shift function. This flick of the switch changes all of your macro mouse buttons from configuration A to configuration B, doubling the amount of possible stored macros, which is a lot.

The most striking feature of the mouse is probably it’s colour scheme. It’s available in snow white with black accents, while the G keys found on the left side of the mouse have their own back-lighting. Impressive in a gamers’ eyes, but enough to make a regular person go “OMGWTFBBQ!1one!” when they see it.

Other noteworthy specifications include an 8,200DPI sensor, 30G of acceleration, and the ability to track up to 4.06m per second.

Logitech G600 MMORPG

Thermaltake Circle Fire media kit

It’s hard to choose just one gaudy Thermaltake item to list here, but the Circle Fire media kit is everything about Thermaltake condensed into one 5.25 inch drive bay package.

This multi-coloured beast sits in a 5.25 inch drive bay, in full view for all to see – and apart from looking like a flamboyant Megatron, it plays music through its built-in speakers.

There are also dancing meters, which “provide exciting dancing motions with different colour options.” How riveting.

Did you know the device can also change the audio from high to normal, then to low? All this with the press of a button, amazing!

I’m hard on the Circle Fire media kit purely because it’s branded as “professional”, while having a “stylish design”. If they had called it the “Over-the-top-gaudy, extreme attention-whoring media player of doom”, I would personally buy one and show it off for the world to see.
