Lian Li PC cases, classy with a bit of madness

Lian Li is a name associated with high quality, elegant computer cases that enthusiasts have lusted after for years. Train case (PC-CK101)

Some might ask why Lian Li would make such a case, and the answer is actually simpler than you’d expect: because trains. The Lian Li train case looks like something a hobbyist with a train fetish would have in the centre of their man cave, rather than a mini ITX tower, but it has space for a full on entertainment PC – neat.

The premium edition of the train comes complete with 6 tracks and a small motor that powers the wheels via a belt system to keep the good times chugging along. It also comes with an atomizer to puff out vapour smoke for that authentic train feel.

A built in 300w power supply and 120mm rear cooling fan means its ready to go after installing your system and being the wonder of the two friends you still have. Because trains.

Spider test bench (T1)

Test benches essential to overclocker who regularly changes hardware or benches at sub zero temperatures. One that’s shaped like a spider is also pretty cool; it’s much prettier (if slightly less practical) than a regular rectangular one but it can work. Making the test bench ITX -ized so that only a limited range of motherboards that weren’t designed for overclocking in mind is where the company loses me a bit.

It comes with space for a full sized ATX PSU, a neat cable management system and adjustable legs so you can strike the perfect pose. It has no ventilation fans, but then again who needs airflow when you have components amassed on the back of a spider shaped body?

Cowry edition (PC-U6)

If ever there was a case that caused an OMGWTFBBQ reaction, this would be it. Known as the Cowry edition, this case does its best to look like a cowry shell. Or a snail. Or a Chelsea bun, or something.

Capable of taking micro-ATX boards, 310mm graphics cards, and coming with two 120mm fans, the Cowry edition case is the closest thing to a “normal” computer case on this list. It features a red glow that makes it look like an angry snail with a mild case of heartburn, and it costs a bit more than a small used hatch-back; but like a barnacle it grows on you after a while.
