Cooler Master N300, N500 PC chassis revealed for SA

22 April 2013

Cooler Master has just announced the N300 and N500 gaming chassis which will be hitting the South African market.

The recommended retail pricing is as follows, supplied by Sonic Informed:

  • N500 – R899
  • N500 window – R949
  • N300 – R599
  • N300 window – R649

The N300 and N500 are a move away from the Elite series’ timeless design into something more mature and less glossy. Both chassis have space for ATX motherboards with dual graphics cards, 240mm radiators for water-cooling setups and bottom-mounted power supplies.

N300

The N300 is a little more versatile and features space for two 240mm radiators – one at the top and one on the side, where the fans in the right-hand panel push air into the chassis at a 90º angle to cool the hard drives and create more space for cable routing. The N300 supports the installation of two DVD drives and up to eight hard drives. It includes two Cooler Master 120mm Sickleflow fans with the potential to fit in a total of eight.

There are additionally two front panel versions – KKN1 features two USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0, while the KKN2 SKU (stock-keeping unit) features just two USB 3.0 ports. Make sure you ask to receive the correct version with the proper front panel when ordering the N300.

N500

The N500 is the same size but doesn’t have the same internal design. The hard drive cage is cut in half with provision for 2.5-inch SSDs with the small removable drive cage in the front.

The N500 has its intake fan in the front, with an additional two on the left side panel. The N500 supports only one 240mm radiator but provides a dust filter for it which is easily removable. The lack of a large drive bay allows for the installation of extra-long graphics cards.
