Asus unveils ROG Tytan G70 gaming desktop

Asus has announced the launch of a new addition to the Republic of Gamers line – Asus’ premium hardware family for discerning gamers – with a desktop called the Tytan.

This is the latest in a long line of superb desktops made by Asus, and their first with Intel’s Haswell family of processors. Not only is the Tytan beautiful, it also has an air of insanity to it.

There will be several versions with different specifications and the launch model will be the Tytan G70, kitted out with an impressive array of hardware.

The Tytan’s chassis is unique in that it can transform into something rather menacing.

At the press of a button, two side vents with three fans open on either side and act as air intakes. The button press also overclocks the processor without a reboot, which has been a capability on most motherboards with UEFI BIOS systems for a while now.

Asus labels the button “Speed” and calls the setup “a 10-way cross airflow design.” The fan setup is designed for positive pressure and should cool things down nicely.

The Tytan offerings from yesteryear also came standard with water-cooled processors and a two-year warranty. Asus may also offer a version of the Tytan with AMD hardware, specifically the FX-9000 series processors that were recently announced by AMD. Such an extreme setup would be well-suited to running those processors.
