AMD has been bundling some fantastic games with their Radeon graphics cards and the Never Settle bundle has been a turning point for the company in how they advertise their products to gamers.
You buy the card, AMD’s partners send you a Never Settle code, and you can redeem your free games online and download them through their respective online portals.
Never Settle Forever is the name of the new bundle, and the title seems to imply that this is a long-term plan for AMD. Previously gamers were given a set amount of titles with their games and they weren’t allowed to choose which ones they wanted to play.
Never Settle Reloaded had an update mid-way through the program that gave buyers of Radeon HD7800 and HD7900 series graphics cards all the games in their respective bundles, including a free copy of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
Never Settle Forever includes games from previous Never Settle bundles, but omits two recent titles: Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite. Those are still available in a bundle with the Radeon HD7990.
Gamers today can pick from a pool of games including Tomb Raider, Hitman: Absolution, Devil May Cry, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Sniper Elite V2, DiRT3, and Dirt Showdown.
Never Settle Forever gives gamers the choice of choosing which games they want bundled with their card. The promotion is separated into three tiers – Bronze, Silver and Gold. Bronze tiers allow buyers to pick one game, Silver gives you two game choices, and Gold gives you three.
The tiers also correlate to the families of the cards available, as demonstrated in the table below.
| Graphics card |
Tier | Game choice |
| Radeon HD7770 | Bronze | One free game |
| Radeon HD7790 | Bronze | One free game |
| Radeon HD7850 | Silver | Two free games |
| Radeon HD7870 | Silver | Two free games |
| Radeon HD7870 LE/XT | Silver | Two free games |
| Radeon HD7950 | Gold | Three free games |
| Radeon HD7970 | Gold | Three free games |
| Radeon HD7990 | God | Eight free games |
The bundles are a limited-time offer once you redeem your Never Settle code. You have until 31 December 2013 to pick your games and once you do, you have to pick them up all at the same time. You may not, for example, pick Tomb Raider now and Battlefield 4 later. These games likewise may not be available throughout the year, as was the case with previous Never Settle bundles.
The “Forever” part of the Never Settle promotion suggests that AMD will continue the program in its new form starting from today. This way they can continue to distribute Never Settle codes, but keep the game bundles regularly updated to keep things fresh, similar to how Sony runs the free games offering on the PS Plus subscription. AMD may also be able to extend this promotion to other products such as their APUs in future.
Giving buyers the option of which games they want is also great news. This way you can buy two of the same cards, but opt for different free games from each set.
