Corsair has revealed a new chassis for enthusiasts and gamers called the Obsidian 750D. It joins the Obsidian family of high-end gaming chassis and shares the new design language seen on the 900D, the 800D, 650D and the 350D.
Rectron South Africa has said that the Obsidian 750D should be available for gamers and enthusiasts to purchase in November 2013. The recommended retail price starts at R1,899, although this is subject to change with our fluctuating exchange rate with the US Dollar.
The Obsidian 750D is a full-tower design with a brushed aluminium front panel and a large side window. Measuring 235mm wide by 560mm high by 546mm long, it’s a large chassis capable of accommodating some insane set-ups. On its own, the chassis weighs 9.5kg.
Motherboard support is expansive, supporting sizes up to the HPTX form factor commonly seen in servers. Storage is catered for thanks to three 2.5-inch and six 3.5-inch drive bays to accommodate hard drives or solid state drives. As is the case for most fill-tower designs, three 5.25-inch drive bays for DVD drives and other front-panel equipment are also included.
The chassis has a lot of cooling options with two 140mm front intake fans as well as one rear 120mm intake. Corsair provides space for three 120mm fans on the top of the chassis, or radiators up to 360mm in length. It is also possible to install a 280mm radiator in the front of the chassis as well as a 240mm unit at the bottom.
The drive caddies are completely removable and also stackable. It’s possible to stack the drive caddies on top of each other at the front and add in a third cage for a total of nine 3.5-inch drive bays. The front panel houses an easily removable dust filter while the top has a magnetic 360mm dust filter which can be washed.
