Corsair has announced a new member of the Graphite family, the Graphite 230T. It’s an entirely new design and direction for Corsair and looks refreshingly different from their regular Obsidian and Carbide lineups.
Local distributor Rectron has confirmed that South Africans will be able to buy the Graphite 230T when it lands in late November 2013. Prices are not official, but you can look forward to a retail price between R899 and R999. The 230T will be initially available in Battleship Grey, Rebel Orange and Black colour schemes.
The Graphite 230T case features a sculpted steel exterior with color coordinated LED intake fans and a optional tinted side panel window. Inside, the matte black interior has plenty of room for multi-GPU configurations and mass storage with seven expansion slots along with four 2.5-inch, four 3.5-inch, and three 5.25-inch drive bays.
The 230T also includes dual 120mm LED front intake fans and a rear 120mm exhaust fan, and has mounts to add two 120mm or 140mm fans on the top and a 120mm or 140mm fan on the bottom. This also means that there’s enough mountings and space for up to two 120mm water-cooling radiators along with a third 120mm radiator on the rear of the chassis.
There’s plenty cable management holes available to keep things tidy and the chassis has sturdy mounts for the hard drives and SSDs. The lower drive cages are made out of plastic to save on weight. The front of the chassis is ventilated save for the 5.25-inch drive bays, which are blocked off and do not bring in any extra air flow.
The chassis is also slightly thinner than most, which means that coolers taller than 140mm won’t fit inside. With a trend towards all-in-one water coolers, Corsair is obviously not worried about size hangups with the Graphite 230T.
GPU lengths are also not going to be an issue for most configurations, but triple SLI and Crossfire will need to be restricted to less than 320mm in length. This is plenty for most graphics setups, however, and will only be an issue when using graphics cards with custom or aftermarket coolers.
