ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) announced the arrival of the Matrix Platinum AMD R9 290X and Matrix Platinum Nvidia GTX 780 Ti – two powerful new graphics cards loaded with over-clocking ability, DirectCU II cooling technology, and shiny LEDs.

The two graphics cards are scheduled to arrive in South Africa in mid-April 2014. Below is the RRP:

ASUSTek South Africa said only five units of each card will be brought into SA initially, with more shipped in if there is demand.

The cards are said to be 13% faster than reference designs, and include Memory Defroster – which allows below-zero over-clocking.

The Matrix cards also allow for control over GPU and video-memory clock speeds, voltages, cooling-fan speeds, and power-consumption threshold.

Both cards come with 4GB of DDR5 video memory, colour-coded LEDs that change shade to reflect the GPU’s load level, and clock speeds of 1050MHz for the R9 290X and 1072MHz for the GTX 780 Ti.
