The Android console made by peripheral maker MadCatz, the Mojo, is now available in South Africa.

10 consoles are available exclusively from Kalahari, and one will set you back R2,809.

The Mojo is described as a “gaming and media console” that allows you to play Android games, surf the net, and stream media.

The device is compatible with MadCatz’s GameSmart suite of accessories, such as keyboards, controllers , headsets, and mice.

Here are the Mojo’s hardware stats:

  • 1.8GHz Nvidia Tegra 4 processor
  • 16GB onboard memory
  • 2GB RAM
  • GPU with 72 custom cores
  • 5.1 Channel Surround Sound support
  • Connects to your network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi
  • MicroSD expansion slot
  • Controller included

“We’re not offering a walled garden with a small selection of a hundred or so games. We’re not forcing gamers to use our controllers if they don’t wish to, we’re not trying to sell services or software. Our commitment to the gamer is simple: We’re going to deliver the most powerful Android based Micro Console on the market when we launch,” said Mad Catz’s Alex Verrey previously.

Will you be getting a Mojo? I know Austin Powers will. Let us know in the comments and forum.
