Razer has unveiled its latest headset – the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma. It makes pretty colours!

The headset features, as the name suggests, virtual 7.1 surround sound, ultra-low latency audio processing, and personalised audio calibration.

“Razer’s powerful Synapse unified configuration software is capable of a high degree of customization, allowing you to tweak the engine to specifically position each surround sound channel, boost bass levels and even balance incoming voice audio for astounding aural precision,” said Razer.

Audio configurations can be set and saved for individual programmes.

The headset’s defining feature, though, if you had not guessed from the presence of Chroma in its moniker, is the customisable 16.8 million colour options which allows gamers to change the hue of the Razer logos on the sides of the headphones.

“From your own custom uniquely programmed palette of colours, to preloaded lighting effects, all set easily through Razer Synapse, the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma lets you express yourself in a way that’s unique only to you,” said Razer.

Three light cycles are available:

  • Spectrum cycling – Slowly cycles through the entire spectrum of 16.8 million colours for a subtle yet visually stunning look.
  • Breathing – Gently pulses in a colour of choice every 7 seconds, replicating a steady breathing pattern.
  • Static – Illuminates your ear cups in any colour you pick from the selection of 16.8 million colours.
