Hisense prices its Ultra HD LED TVs for South Africa

Hisense Ultra HD LED (ULED) TVs

Hisense will launch its Ultra LED (ULED) ultra high definition televisions in South Africa from August 2015.

The new TV models will be manufactured in South Africa, at Hisense’s factory in Cape Town.

According to Hisense, its ULED 2.0 technology offers better picture and colour quality than normal LED technology.

Hisense said it includes more backlights behind the screen, with each backlight divided into hundreds of units.

“Each unit can then have its light output independently controlled, with whites being made brighter and blacks made deeper as a result, to enhance contrast across the board,” said Hisense.

Hisense said its TVs are aimed price-sensitive customers, with its UHD sets available at a “considerably more affordable price point than its [organic LED] counterparts”.

It highlighted its K680 UHD range, which is currently available in the following variants:

  • 50″ – R9,999
  • 55″ – R14,999
  • 65″ – R26,999

The new Hisense ULED televisions will start at R29,999.
