Turns out, Philips also has a 34 inch curved monitor

MMD, the brand license partner for Philips Monitors in South Africa, has launched its first curved display – with an UltraWide 21:9 format – in SA.

The curved 34-inch display boasts a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels, and “enriched sound” through integrated speakers.

The display can differentiate between over one billion colours, and provides 99% sRGB colour support. It also features various connectivity choices: DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0, MHL technology, and USB 3.0.

Pricing and availability information is yet to be announced.

And here ASUS had us thinking that their ROG Swift PG348Q monitor had the only 34” Ultra-Wide, curved display.

To be fair to ASUS, they did have the first, an achievement unto its own. Moreover, each monitors looks to target an entirely different market.

With integrated audio and the sorts of colours producible by the Philips BDM3490UC monitor, courtesy of its QuadHD AHS-IPS panels, it looks to target a more general audience, and their marketing seems to speak to that.

ASUS’ ROG display, on the other hand, as is the case with any piece of ROG tech, is designed almost entirely with the gaming enthusiast in mind.










You don’t equip a 100HZ IPS monitor with NVIDIA’s G-Sync unless you’re interested in attracting gamers.

Heck, the aesthetics of each monitor alone speaks about their intended use.
