HTC Vive to cost more than $799 when it eventually launches locally

HTC Vive - Launch Price & Region

Few were surprised when the HTC Vive was priced at $799. Sure, it’s expensive, but there’s a lot of state-of-the-art technology powering it, more so than even the Oculus Rift.

Turns out, the HTC Vive virtual reality (VR) headset will actually cost more to purchase outside of the US, according to its launch country.

In the UK for example, instead of launching at a price of £576 (around $799 at the time of writing), it will go for £689 ($955).

We’re afraid what that will mean for South Africa – when it eventually launches here.

Region Currency MSRP
US* USD US $799.00

Unsurprisingly, the HTC Vive won’t be launching in SA on April 5th.

When it eventually does, it will include Google’s Tilt Brush alongside Fantastic Contraption and Job Simulator – if that makes any sort of difference to those of you interested.
